What You’ll Need
  • 1 package plastic eyeballs* (available on Amazon)
  • 4 bundles black fake flowers* (we used these)
  • Acrylic paint & small brushes
  • Hot glue gun
  • Shot glasses or plastic bottle caps (to use as stands for painting)
  • Zip ties, fishing line and a long craft needle
  • Headstones (buy or make your own, ours were styrofoam)
  • A few yards of gray tulle
  • String lights (just one is fine, any color)

*This will make the amount of flowers pictured. If you want a more full display or want to cover your whole porch, double or even triple this amount.

Instructions
Step One: Paint the Eyeballs

Repaint the eyeball to be a more realistic coloring. Use a shot glass or plastic lid as a stand while painting and drying. Tiffany painted ours, since she is the best painter of the three of us. We did three colors; blue, green and brown. You can use an image of an eyeball for reference or just use the already painted on eyeball as a guide. Make them as detailed or simple as you want. You can also keep them as is from the package if you don’t care to have the red eyes. It looks like they also sell them in purple.

Step Two: Paint the Roses

We did orange, purple and red spots on the roses to give them a little more interest. Some are all one color, like the photo below, and some have multiple colors.

Step Three: Glue

Attach one eyeball into the middle of each flower using hot glue at the base of the eye. You can stop at this step and put the flowers in a vase if you don’t want to decorate your porch with them.

Step Four: To The Porch

This is the fun part – attaching everything to the porch. First, string lights at the very bottom of the area where you will be creating your graveyard. Next, tie the tulle onto one of the bars of your porch out of the way on one side. Then, fluff it and weave it in and out of the bars across the area you will be decorating. Ours made two passes. Use as much or as little as you want. Next, use the craft needle to punch holes in the headstones and thread fishing line through. Use this to tie each headstone onto the porch. We only attached ours at the top. Next, use zip ties to attach the flowers, hiding the ties and stems of the flowers behind the tulle. Last, arrange the flowers around the headstones. That’s it!
