Springfield Christmas Parade 2018
Today Jamie and I left our winter hibernation and went out in the daylight for the holiday event of the season – the Springfield Christmas Parade 2018.
Okay so it’s not as big of a deal as all that but it does seem to be the largest parade that the city of Springfield puts on yearly. I realized this when Springfield Public Schools pulled all their school marching bands from the parade for fear of bad weather and people on the Facebook event page were mad, basically saying they wait all year for this, what’s a parade without marching bands, how could you ruin ours and our children’s memories, etc etc. Other city parades include the Labor Day parade (a lot of semis and politicians and a handful of marching bands) and the Fourth of July parade (no marching bands that I can recall) so I guess it makes sense they look forward to this parade? I don’t know. My favorite parade of the year is the Greater Ozarks Pride Parade which has no marching bands but the city doesn’t put that on anyway so whatever.
It was very cold. A man standing next to us would not stop obnoxiously shouting for candy, ridiculing a few women for ‘throwing like a girl’ when he wasn’t able to get candy. We got there late on purpose, but it meant taking photos through the crowd which is difficult. Despite all that, it was a really good time. Here are my favs of the photos I was able to get. Happy Christmas!
