DON’T GAMBLE ON A FART FREE CROCHET PATTERN – MINI C2C WALL HANGING

Pattern by Carly Arnold of UnicornHideout.com

‘Don’t Gamble on a Fart’ is our unofficial house motto so I thought it was a perfect option for my first grid design featuring words. I first tried the pattern as tapestry crochet and didn’t like that, but I think the mini C2C works really well. Mine ended up about 13 inches by 13.5 inches – it’s not a perfect square. It also needed some pretty serious blocking and still didn’t end up a perfect rectangle, but that’s okay. Even without a perfect sample I thought it would be fun to share.  I think it could be made into a cool pillow. If I do decide to make another one, I’ll probably do that.

If you’ve never used the mini C2C stitch or need a refresher, here is the tutorial I used. Mini C2C uses two HDC instead of the 3 DC of a standard C2C stitch and results in square around half the size of standard. Since this was going to be a wall hanging, I carried the yarn behind using this technique from Amber at Divine Debris. (Scroll down the post a little for her videos.) I modified it slightly to apply to the mini C2C by picking up the carried yarn on the last HDC only.

SUPPLIES
3.75mm (F) hook
Yarn needle (for weaving in ends)
4 medium worsted weight yarn, I just used acrylic

GAUGE
doesn’t really matter but if you want yours to be similar in size, my gauge was 2 mini C2C X 2 mini C2C = 1 inch
